
About the Saint Andrew's Children's Center
History
Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church opened an Infant/Toddler to Irvine, California community in 1985. The Center has continued to serve infants and toddlers and expanded to preschool. In 1997 the Center opened a facility that provided 15 classrooms and multiple outdoor play areas.
The Center can serve 180 children aged 6 weeks through preschool. The Center operates year round from 6:30 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday excluding scheduled holidays.
Credentials
The Lead Teachers are certified with a Child Development Permit issued by the State of California. They also maintain their First Aid & CPR certificates. In addition, all Teachers have completed the required college level child development classes. Assistant Teachers are in-process of obtaining the required college units and do not supervise children without a Teacher present.
Certification
Saint Andrew's Children's Center is certified by the Episcopal Commission on Schools of the Diocese of Los Angeles. The Center strives towards meeting other organization accreditation standards.
Organization
The Center is an integral mission of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Board of Directors meets monthly to approve policy, review the financial statements, and oversees overall operations.
License
The Center is licensed by the Department of Social Services, State of California under Title 22. The Preschool is License under #300605894 and serves 124 children. The Infant/Toddlers Licensed under #300605470 serves 64 children.
Goals
Saint Andrew's Children's Center offers your child a loving learning environment. The program will provide experiences that will assist in developing your child’s potential and positive self-concept, while recognizing individual needs. Saint Andrew’s Children’s Center has established goals and objectives a s program guidance in the following areas:
Parents
- To support parents in their responsibility as positive role models for their children
- To help parents feel welcomed and informed as observers and contributors to the program
- To recognize parents as the primary caregivers of their children as valuable partners in their child’s education
Children
- To encourage interactions between children and staff that provides opportunities for each child to develop an understanding of self and others.
- To encourage children to be actively involved in the learning process, to experience a variety of developmentally age-appropriate activities while pursuing their own interests in the context of life in the community and world.
Staff
- To promote exceptional personal qualities for all personnel
- To ensure that the program is staffed with qualified adults who understand child development as well as, recognize and provide for each child’s needs
- To sufficiently staff the program in order to promote the physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive development of the children.
Health, Safety, and Licensing of Facilities
- To maintain an indoor and outdoor physical environment that fosters optimal growth and development through opportunities for exploration and learning
- To ensure that the health and safety of children and adults are protected
- To maintain quality standards and regulation compliance
Assessment
- To systematically assess the effectiveness of the program in meeting its goals for children, parents, and staff to ensure appropriate curriculum planning for each child’s growth and well being
- To achieve and maintain accreditation with the appropriate agency
Management
- To establish efficient and effective business practices
- To efficiently and effectively manage the program with full attention to the needs and desires of children, parents, and staff
